Sincerely Delighting Yourself In The Lord During Distress Is Easier Said Than Done
Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” Frankly this is easier said than done. Then Verse 5 continues in saying that we should commit our cares on to him and be confident in him.
If we need God to send us love, we should be love to someone else. If we are depending on God to bring us food, what ever food we have share with someone who doesn’t even have what we have. If we need God to send someone to help us, let us be of help to someone who needs the talents that we have.
By extending our hand to others we are demonstrating the existence of God in our lives-that is delighting ourselves in the Lord. Jesus is our example of being the bread of life to someone who doesn’t have food to eat. He was also a demonstration of bread from heaven for those who didn’t have money to buy.
This may seem hard to do, but just start where you are and try it, before you realize it you will be strengthened while waiting on God. And during the encounters of extending your hand to others your help could be in their mist.
And when you are feeling stressed and about to break down, just remember “STRESSED” is just “DESSERTS” spelled backwards. It’s just a piece of cake for God to solve!
